Lesbian 'bullied' over bumper sticker that doesn't include transgender (2025)

A San Francisco woman and a lesbian were caught in a 'sticker war' after the latter's 'LGB' car sticker was removed by the Bay Area resident.

Footage taken by the owner of the car showed the Bernal Heights woman's rant calling the sticker 'hate speech.'

'I don't tolerate people who promote hate speech on their cars,' the resident declared in the video.

'You don't get to tell me what hate speech is,' the car's owner stated. 'And you don't get to touch my car.'

The car owner had put the sticker on her car on Sunday, according to the post shared on X.

The sticker, with a rainbow pattern, had struck the 'T' from theLGBTacronym, which has been used to represent the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.

By Monday, the Bernal Heights resident had taped a response to the 'LGB' sticker onto the car, which read: 'Shame on you! There is no community without the T! LGBT.'

The owner of the car then, on Tuesday, placed another sticker over that taped note, which said: 'Free Speech!'

To which the resident added another note by midday over the sticker, which she scraped off, on Thursday that read: 'Your hate speech is not tolerated here!!!'

According to the post on X, the resident who was filmed admitted to 'vandalizing' the car.

Their recorded argument went back and forth disputing over whether the sticker was in fact hate speech.

'Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual is not hate speech,' the car owner said.

'Yes, it is,' the resident responded. 'It's erasing the "T".'

The car owner hit back and claimed, 'the "T" was never there to start with.'

'It was a made-up thing that happened 15 years ago,' the owner continued. 'I don't agree with it being added on.'

'It got added on because our community... we evolved, our community expands,' the woman continued.

The owner of the car then, placed another sticker over that taped note, which said: 'Free Speech'

'No, my community is me... Your community expanded. I never accepted that,' the car owner continued.

'I'm a female who loves females. That's a lesbian,' she added.

The woman that declared she was in fact a 'woman who hates men.'

'So, either lesbians love lesbians because they love women or because they hate men,' the resident said. 'And there's a big difference.'

'That's the craziest thing I've ever heard. How dare you put your ideology into me?' the lesbian said. 'I will not accept it.'

The woman then indicated that if she didn't want her car touched, she should park it elsewhere.

'I'll park my car wherever I want,' the car owner responded.

'Don't park your car with that s***,' the resident said, prompting the car owner to respond that it was a public parking space and threatened to contact police if she touched her car again.

The resident then scrapedoff the 'LGB' sticker and added another note by midday on Thursday that read: 'Your hate speech is not tolerated here!!!'

In addition to the taped responses, the resident also ripped the sticker off the car

'F*** you and your f***ing hate,' the resident concluded.

'Awesome,' the women recording responded.

The woman in the video, Randy, responded and claimed the video had been edited and the car owners 'transphobic comments' had been removed.

Randy said that the confrontation began after the car owner blamed a trans woman across the street for the message stuck to her vehicle, and 'referred to my neighbor as a he.'

'I am the woman in the video. Julie, you don't know Queer history as much as you think you do,' Randy wrote to the user, who she believes since deleted her comment.

'When I came out in 1973, we were only &G. The B&T were added in the 90s to be more inclusive, recognizing the contributions of these folks to our community at large. I have identified as a lesbian for 52 years & can't even begin to imagine my life without the trans people, both women & men who have been a part of it & presently are.'

'For the life of me, I don't understand TERF irrational paranoid fear that trans women are trying to erase lesbians; the language you all use sounds like nazi propaganda to justify their heinous assault on my ancestors.

'It is truly heartbreaking to me that there are those such as yourself in our community who hate on our trans folk. You are no better than the racist tyrant & his regime who hijacked our country, in your attempt to erase trans people,' she wrote.

Users on X reacted that the woman's actions were 'self-righteous.'

'Straight women telling lesbians that straight men in dresses are part of the "community." No they're not. Never were and never will be,' one user claimed.

One user, 'Her/She biological,' wrote: 'Good grief. A few months ago, the rainbow people didn't care for married women or men. They were determined to erase the two names.'

'I don't think we called it hate speech. We just advocated for what is our "a man" and "a woman" space. And we won BIG.'

Another said: 'Some people are so self-righteous. Lesbians hate men, that's ridiculous, as is all the other c*** she is spewing.'

'This extreme Left cancel culture that handed Trump the election on a silver platter,' another wrote.

Other comments, however, disagreed.

'I'm not with you and I'm a lesbian. It's interesting that a population of people that have been historically shunned by American culture are so quick to shun another group of people,' one wrote.

'I don't think some trans women belong in women's sports, but I don't have to hate trans women.'

'You intentionally put that sticker on to highlight your prejudice against the "T." Might as well say it with your chest,' another said. 'Trans men and women exist and always have. Their history is tied with the larger LGBTQIAA+ community.'

'Yeah it's not hate speech, but it's still problematic though,' one user wrote.

Trump signed an executive order last month prohibiting biological men who now identify as women from competing in women and girls sports

The sticker controversy comes following a UK Supreme Court ruling that Trans women would not be recognized as women.

The blow to the Trans community is couple with Donald Trump's war on Trans athletes, and defunding of programs promoting DEI moves.

Trump recently halted $175 million in federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania after its athletic policies allowed a Trans athlete tocompete on their women's swim team.

As part of the administration's Title IX investigation, UPenn could face losing all of their federal funding, according to Fox Business.

The White House's response team posted the news segment to their X account, claiming the funding-related punishment is due to the university's 'policies forcing women to compete with men in sports.'

'Promises made, promises kept,' it added Trump's often-repeated tagline.

While $175 million has already been frozen for UPenn from contracts with the Department of Defense and Health and Human Services, the administration is now warning that all federal funding for the university is at stake.

'This is just a taste of what could be coming down the pipe for Penn,' an official said, according to the network. 'A proactive punishment from the President to pull back discretionary spending going to the school from DoD and HHS.'

A spokesperson for the Philadelphia-based Ivy League said it did not receive any official notification or details, but that they are aware of the reports of the suspensions of funds.

'It is important to note, however, that Penn has always followed NCAA and Ivy League policies regarding student participation on athletic teams,' the spokesperson said in an email to NBC News.

'We have been in the past, and remain today, in full compliance with the regulations that apply to not only Penn, but all of our NCAA and Ivy League peer institutions.'

Trump signed an executive order last month prohibiting biological men who now identify as women from competing in women and girls sports.

The action claims that allowing transgender athletes to compete in women's sports 'is demeaning, unfair, and dangerous to women and girls, and denies women and girls the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports.'

Trump signed an executive order once back in the Oval Office proclaiming the federal government will only recognize two sexes on passports, drivers licenses and other official identification documents.

He also signed an action banning trans people from serving in the military and another restricts gender-affirming treatment and care for anyone younger than 19 – both of which are temporarily blocked as they are argued in court.
