A lot has already been revealed about the Immortal in Amazon Prime Video's Invincible series, and here is everything that there is to know about the character.

Invincible season 3 has finally arrived, with it picking up right where Invincible season 2, part 2 left off. Although each superhero and villain ended Invincible season 2 in a unique place, the Immortal's is one of the most interesting. Season 2 revealed that Dupli-Kate was still alive after her faking her death, with her living in a secluded cabin with the Immortal. The Immortal has married Dupli-Kate, with the duo seemingly being retired. However, the events of season 3 have required Dupli-Kate to reveal that she is still alive, putting the Immortal back in the spotlight.

How Old The Immortal Is In Invincible

He Is Between 2,000 & 3,000 Years Old

The Immortal's exact age isn't known, although the Invincible TV show and comics have given some hints as to how long he has been around. The Immortal has been around for somewhere between 2,000 and 3,000 years, meaning that he has been alive to see all kinds of historical events. Throughout his time, the Immortal has been a Celtic warrior, a knight under King Arthur, an explorer alongside Christopher Columbus, a soldier in the American Revolution, and more. The Immortal has been heavily involved in all kinds of important moments, with many of these being shared in the Invincible stories.

While the Immortal has been around for a while, he didn't become a superhero until much more recently. After being a soldier during World War I, the Immortal decided to become a superhero in the public eye sometime during the 1930s. The Immortal has been doing this for nearly 100 years, with him becoming a member of the original Guardians of the Globe. Despite his age, the Immortal is still one of the most powerful superheroes on Earth, with him not aging a day since the incident that originally gave him his powers.

Like many of the superheroes in the world of Invincible, the Immortal is heavily based on another comic book character. The Immortal is incredibly similar to Vandal Savage, a villain from DC Comics. Vandal Savage is over one million years old, with him starting out as a prehistoric man. He was then exposed to a meteor, with this giving him the power of immortality. Since the Immortal's backstory hasn't been revealed, it is likely that something similar to this event happened, although he decided to be a superhero rather than a supervillain.

What Invincible Has Revealed About The Immortal's Backstory

His Origins Are Still Unclear

The Immortal's backstory is quite complicated, with the Invincible show and comics revealing what he was up to at several key points throughout his life. During the age of King Arthur, the Immortal posed as the knight Sir Lancelot. It is implied that he later took up the mantle of Christopher Columbus and came to North America. Later, the Immortal was elected President of the United States, with him using the alias of Abraham Lincoln. He then fought in World War I before deciding to become a proper superhero in the 1930s.

Eventually, the GDA found the Immortal and reached out to him about becoming a superhero for them. The Immortal then joined the Guardians of the Globe, with him acting as a member of the world's premiere superhero team for several years. The Immortal was the most powerful superhero on Earth until Omni-Man arrived, with the two becoming rivals. Eventually, the Immortal was killed by Omni-Man when he slaughtered the Guardians of the Globe. The Immortal remained dead until he was revived by the Mauler Twins later in Invincible's story.

What Powers The Immortal Has (& Where They Came From)

Besides His Immortality

The source of the Immortal's powers are still a complete mystery, with an unknown event in his past giving him all kinds of abilities. The Immortal's most notable power is his immortality, with it allowing to live thousands of years without aging. This comes along with regeneration and resurrection, with his body not decaying until he was revived despite his death at the hands of Omni-Man.

The Immortal also has a whole host of other superpowers. The Immortal is able to fly, with him even traveling through space at various times during the story of Invincible. The Immortal also has super strength and durability, with him being able to hold his own against other powerful characters like Allen the Alien. The Immortal is also incredibly fast, making him an even bigger threat. Although the Immortal can be killed by being dismembered, it didn't keep him dead for long.

How Strong The Immortal Is Compared To Invincible & Omni-Man

Could He Take On The Viltrumites?

The Immortal has fought Omni-Man several times throughout Invincible, but every time, he has lost. The Immortal wasn't able to defeat Omni-Man with the help of the other Guardians of the Globe in Invincible season 1, with him being killed by the Viltrumite. The Immortal then clashes with Omni-Man again after being brought back to life, although he again isn't able to best the hero-turned-villain. The Immortal isn't considered when the Coalition of Planets is looking for people who can kill Viltrumites, cementing that he is not as strong as Omni-Man.

This Invincible Twist Has Been Obvious For 4 Years, But Season 3 Made It Worth The Wait

Invincible season 3 finally pulled the trigger on a long awaited storyline, and despite being four years in the making, it was more than worth it.

Although the Immortal isn't nearly as strong as Omni-Man, he was at least stronger than Invincible at the beginning of the series. The Immortal could have taken Mark Grayson down in season 1 when he was first learning his powers. However, Mark Grayson has gotten significantly stronger since season 1, with him now being able to take on Viltrumites. Due to his training and increased strength, the Immortal is probably no match for Invincible now. However, with Invincible's conflicts with Cecil Stedman, it is possible that we could see the two heroes fight properly in a future Invincible episode.
